A Look Back at the 2024 Partners Tour

News |

Since 2021, GoRecycle has committed to meeting with a predetermined number of partners in the field each year. The goal of these visits is to strengthen our relationships and better grasp the daily realities of our partners. It also allows us to explore new initiatives while responding effectively to any needs and issues that may arise for them.

This year, Municipal Partner Services Manager Marilou Huot set out to tour the province with Head of Municipal Partner Services David Mabille. Their itinerary took them to our municipal partners on the Côte-Nord and in the Capitale-Nationale, as well as our GoReuse partners on Montréal’s South Shore and in the Saguenay, Laurentides and Chaudière-Appalaches regions.

An enriching tour for GoRecycle

These visits are of great importance to GoRecycle. They help us not only to strengthen our relationships with our partners, but also to gain a deeper understanding of their daily realities. This close contact allows us to suggest appropriate initiatives and solve any problems encountered in the field. During this tour, our team had the chance to visit 16 eco-centres and 18 GoReuse sales points in just one week.

During these visits, we distributed a number of GoRecycle and GoReuse display materials. This initiative was carried out in an effort to enhance the reputation of our organization and program while promoting citizen and consumer awareness regarding the challenges of recycling and recovering refrigerating appliances. We also took the time to assess partner satisfaction with respect to our portal and services.

Invaluable training and lessons learned

We took this opportunity to train partner teams on the new GoReuse program and emphasize the benefits it offers not only for the company, but for its customers as well. We also revisited eco-centre storage and health and safety regulations. Among the many valuable lessons we learned from this tour:

  • We noticed the number of air conditioners dropped the farther away we moved from the Capitale-Nationale. This can be explained by the cooler temperatures along the coast caused by the wind and the river.
  • We observed a difference in the use of display material between urban and rural settings.
  • We found a lack of awareness regarding certain appliances not recycled by GoRecycle.

Conclusion: a winning strategy

All partners we met with expressed their satisfaction at seeing GoRecycle active in the field. This tour confirmed that our strategy of visiting a set number of partners each year is not only necessary, but also greatly appreciated. It gave us the chance to refine our approach, strengthen our relationships and better direct our efforts to meet the varying needs of different regions.

Curious to know where we’re headed next year? Stay tuned to follow our upcoming adventures and see how we will continue to work towards more efficient and adapted appliance recycling and recovery across Quebec.
