Hello everyone!
It’s Réal Béland, your renovation enthusiast friend! Today, I want to talk to you about something that’s truly close to my heart: environmentally friendly kitchen renovations.
You probably know me as a comedian, radio and television host. For the past few years, I’ve been hosting renovation shows on CASA, but today, we’re putting aside the hammers and nails to discuss something a bit different yet equally important: responsible disposal of refrigeration appliances, like refrigerators.
Green Kitchen: A Commitment to the Environment
The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where conversations around the table happen, culinary creations come to life, and family bonding occurs. But did you know it’s also one of the places where you can have the most significant impact in terms of reducing greenhouse gases and taking positive action for the environment?
When you consider giving your kitchen a makeover, keep in mind the importance of going green, respecting the environment, and the love we all should have for our beautiful planet.
Responsible Recycling: A Crucial Step in Renovations
One crucial step in a kitchen renovation is ensuring that you properly dispose of your old refrigeration appliances, especially refrigerators, wine coolers, and water dispensers. Why? Well, these appliances contain refrigerants gases that are harmful to our environment.
This is where the GoRecycle program comes into play, a fantastic initiative that aims to recycle and responsibly dispose of refrigeration appliances (and their gases!) while respecting the environment.
GoRecycle Services: Three Options for Proper Refrigeration Appliance Recycling
1. Reuse
Before buying a new appliance or recycling one you no longer need, explore other possibilities! First, can it be repaired to extend its lifespan?
By giving it a second chance, you can save money and help reduce the use of raw materials needed for a new appliance. Many repair specialists will be happy to assist you in prolonging the life of your refrigerator, wine cooler, or water dispenser.
If you want to replace a still-functioning refrigeration appliance, consider giving it a second life by passing it on to someone else or donating it to an organization in your area.
2. Drop-off points
Ensure responsible recycling by taking your appliance to one of the 300 official GoRecycle drop-off points throughout Quebec.
3. Collection with purchase
Most retailers collaborate with GoRecycle to collect and recycle your old refrigerator or freezer when you buy a new one.
