GoRecycle joined the WEEE Forum in 2023. Being a member of this international network specializing in the processing of waste from electrical and electronic equipment confirms our intentions to participate proactively in the research, development and implementation of recycling and responsible waste management best practices.
Joining the WEEE Forum doesn’t change a recognized management organization, except that…
The WEEE Forum provides access to the experience and best practices of other electrical and electronic equipment recycling programs around the world. Membership also allows GoRecycle to share its unique reality with new stakeholders in an effort to find new solutions aimed at increasing the number of recycled appliances and improving its efficiency.
The operations of the majority of the association’s members are focused mainly in Europe, providing us with access to expert knowledge, since the European Union is at the forefront of environmental leadership and legislation.
Our place at the WEEE Forum table provides access to the knowledge and experience of long-time industry veterans that have been working in countries with populations of several million.
Our General Manager, Jules Foisy Lapointe, personally worked very hard on GoRecycle’s request to join the WEEE Forum. He saw it as a significant opportunity to position GoRecycle as a role model among management organizations recognized in Canada.
Although we are recent members and are still in an observation period, opportunities for exchange and partnership are already emerging for GoRecycle.
Obviously, our aim is not to compare ourselves with other forum members that are much more established than we are, but we can already draw conclusions about our performance thresholds and make realistic projections for the years ahead.
To sum up, with the WEEE Forum, we are more convinced than ever that we are moving in the right direction. We are motivated to keep improving recycling practices in Quebec and to recycle more and more cooling appliances.
